I've had a Echo SRM-2501 since 1992 and have only cleaned the exhaust port and changed the spark plug every spring. Thats it! Also have a 1994 LESCO LBB-4200 made by Echo. Only thing I have done is to update the air filter and just now replace the flex blower tube. This blower will not die! Its fallen off my truck (don't ask) and slid across the street, not once, but twice! Few scratches and keeps on ticking! I also have a 199? whatever year they came out, split shaft multi-tool that I use as a dedicated stick edger. Runs great!

There are many good manufacturers of 2cycle equipment out there, for me, I'm sticking with ECHO!
