Watertown Police Log: May 2 to May 8 - Watertown, MA Patch

May 2, 3:58 p.m: A Milford woman was stopped by security at Target when she tried to leave the store with a shopping carriage filled with 24 items worth a total of 228.79, including: of clothes, cleaning supplies, baby supplies and make up, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. When police searched the woman they also found some pills for which she did not have a prescription. Larua E. Gailor, 24, of 19 Godfrey Lane in Milford, was arrested on charges of shoplifting by asportation of items worth more than $100 and possession of a Class E substance.

May 2, 8:45 p.m.: Police arrested a Watertown man on domestic assault charges. Eric L. Fossitt, 32 of 568 Mt. Auburn St. Apt. 3 in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault.

May 3, 9:56 p.m.: Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Dexter Avenue involving an ironing board, Grady said. Police arrested Kristopher George Soberano, 29, of 46 Dexter Ave. in Watertown, on a charge of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

May 5, 12:10 p.m.: Home Depot security stopped a Medford man when he tried to leave the store with a cart filled with four spools of electrical wire worth $935, Grady said. Police arrested Brandon Francis Bottari, 22, of 15 Canal St. Apt. 9 in Medford, on charges of larceny of items worth more than $250.

May 6, 10:36 p.m.: A Dracut man was arrested after he allegedly broke the window of a vehicle on Howard Street, Grady said. William M. Connelly, 47, of 489 Methuen St. in Dracut, was arrested on charges of malicious destruction of property and disturbing the peace.

May 6, 3:03 p.m.: Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Fayette Street in which a cell phone was thrown, Grady said. Tayla Erin Murphy, 21, of 1599 Ocean St. in Marshfield, was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

May 6, 9:39 p.m.: Police responded to a call about an intoxicated man who was knocking on doors on Rutland Street. The Newton man has relatives on the street and police believe he was looking for their home, Grady said. When police approached him, the man became violent and struck one of the officers, Grady said. Police arrested Peter John Caira, 27, of 65 Ashmont Ave. in Newton, on charges of assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.

May 7, 11:44 p.m.: Police were called to Spruce Street because a car had reportedly driven into a pole, Grady said. Officers found a vehicle with heavy front-end damage, and located the driver. The man was given field sobriety test and was arrested. Gabriel L. Margolis, 29, of 50 Spruce St. in Watertown, faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation.

May 8, 2:40 a.m.: A woman was arrested in Waltham after Watertown Police received a report of an erratic driver whose car had two blown tires, Grady said. The car had knocked down a street sign and damages a brick wall at the corner of Bridge and Pleasant streets. Waltham Police arrested Elizabeth Peterson, 49, of 15 Bradford St. in Waltham, on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol. She also faces charges from Watertown of leaving the scene of property damage, Grady said.

May 2, 6:41 a.m.: A pane of glass from a garage door at Artos Service Station on Main Street someone the previous night, Grady said.

May 3, 8:40 a.m.: The owner of a landscaping business parked his truck on Ashland Street and sometime overnight someone stole tools out of the truck. Items included two backpack blowers worth $1,280, three Red Max hedge trimmers worth $450 each and a Stihl cut-off saw worth $1,350, Grady said.

May 3, 7:53 p.m.: The owner of a 1995 Honda Civic discovered someone broke into her car while she was parked at the Arsenal Mall, Grady said. A diaper bag was stolen with clothing and personal papers inside.

May 2, 10:54 p.m.: A 1997 Honda Accord was broken into at the Arsenal Mall and a Dell laptop was stolen, along with a backpack, Grady said. There were no signs of forced entry.

May 3, 1:33 p.m.: A woman who had her handbag draped on the arm of her stroller noticed the bag was gone while she was at the Arsenal Mall. She told police she suspects the bag was taken while she was putting her child in the car, Grady said. She went back to the mall and when she was reporting the bag missing, the mall staff said her bag had been returned. Her purse was missing with $150 in cash and credit cards, but there was no description of a suspect.

May 4, 12:43 p.m.: A woman came to the Police Station to report that her iPhone went missing while she was in the waiting room at Toyota of Watertown, Grady said.

May 4, 2:30 p.m.: An employee of the Arsenal Mall heard her car alarm go off and when she had her husband check on it he discovered her tote bag was missing, Grady said. Missing were a Droid cell phone, an iTouch iPod and a digital camera, worth a combined $1,100. The woman said the lock was broken on one of her car doors.

May 5, 7:31 p.m.: A car parked in the Watertown Mall parking lot was broken into and an iPod and a GPS device, worth a combined $600, were taken, Grady said.

May 6, 10:45 a.m.: A Dexter Street homeowner reported that some of her jewelry had gone missing, and were possibly stolen, Grady said. The items – including gold chains, gold religious medals and a diamond ring worth more about $3,000 – were taken sometime between April 24 and May 5. Police are investigating.

May 7, 10:05 a.m.: Sometime overnight someone smashed the windshield of a 2004 Audi parked on Hovey Street, Grady said. It appeared that the windshield was struck multiple times.

May 7, 2:33 p.m.: A 2008 Yamaha sport bike was reported missing, and was taken sometime the previous night, Grady said. The motorcycle had a LoJack security device and at 5:38 p.m. that day Cambridge Police notified the owner that they had found the bike in their city and it had some minor damage.

May 8, 11:36 a.m.: The owner of a 2003 Toyota Camry reported that her car had been vandalized, Grady said. The car had scratches and dents on the hood, but she is not sure where and when the car was damaged.
