Oak Park Police Blotter: Lottery Tickets Stolen, Jewelry Swiped - Oak Park-River Forest, IL Patch

The following items are taken from Oak Park Police Department daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Residential Burglary: Jewelry, a camera, television and laptop computer were stolen during an April 27 burglary to a home in the 0-100 block of Le Moyne Avenue. The television was later recovered in the rear of a home in the 1400 block of North Austin Boulevard.

Theft: A wallet containing credit cards, a driver’s license and $20 was stolen April 27 from a customer's purse at a business in the 1100 block of Lake Street. The estimated loss was $155.

Obstructing Officer: Eugene Hall, 25, of Oak Park, charged April 27 with obstructing a police officer and improperly walking on roadways, police said. Police said Hall was walking in the middle of the roadway in the 600 block of South Kenilworth Avenue and would not move off when asked by police.

Robbery: A purse was stolen April 27 in the 200 block of South Oak Park Avenue when an unknown offender approached a woman from behind and grabbed the it. The estimated loss was $35.

Auto Theft: A 2004 Ford Focus parked in the first block of Greenfield Avenue was reported stolen on April 27. The estimated loss was $3,000.

Criminal Damage: The rear window of a Honda Accord parked in the 1500 block of North Harlem Avenue was broken April 27.

Traffic Arrest: Cornelius Murphy, 35, of Chicago, was charged with driving on a suspended license after an April 27 traffic stop in the 100 block of North Kenilworth Avenue, police said.

Theft: A black duffel bag containing $7 and various identification cards was reported stolen April 26 from a visitor at West Suburban Medical Center, 3 Erie Court. The loss was estimated at $27.

Garage Burglary: A snow blower was stolen April 26 from the garage in the 1100 block of South Lombard. Entry was gained by forcing open the side service door with a small pry tool. The estimated loss was $300.

Traffic Arrest: Veronica Flores-Guerrero, 39, of Chicago, was charged with driving on a suspended license after being involved in an April 26 traffic accident in the area of Roosevelt Road and Scoville Avenue, police said.

Traffic Arrest: Xavier Cooper, 17, of Chicago, was charged with not having a valid driver’s license after an April 26 traffic stop in the 0-100 block of Ontario, police said.

Burglary Arrest: A male juvenile from Oak Park was charged with burglary on April 26 for attempting to take a GPS system from a Honda Civic parked in the 100 block of North Kenilworth Avenue, police said.

Traffic Arrest: Delano McIntyre, 29, of Chicago, was charged with driving on a suspended license, expired registration and driving without insurance after an April 26 traffic stop in the 500 block of South Austin Boulevard, police said.

Armed Robbery: A wallet and an MP3 player were taken April 26 when three men confronted a victim in the 200 block of Austin Boulevard. One of the men pressed something into the victim’s back. The trio was last seen running northbound from the scene. The estimated loss was $105.

Attempted Burglary Arrests: Robert Howell, 21 and Gregory Dortch, 20, both of Chicago, were charged April 25 with attempting to burglarize a home in the 200 block of South Scoville Avenue, police said. They also were charged with criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to residence.

Criminal Damage: The basement door frame and three wood rails on a home in the 1100 block of South Highland Avenue were damaged April 25.

Criminal Damage: A double pane sliding glass door on a building in the 6400 block of Roosevelt Road was shattered April 25 with a BB or pellet type projectile. Estimated damage was $800.

Warrant Arrest: Michael D. Dickens, 31, of Maywood, was arrested April 25 in the 0-100 block of Harrison Street on an active Oak Park warrant for marijuana possession, police said.

Traffic Arrest: Cojuan D. Harmon, 19, of Chicago, was charged with driving on a suspended license after an April 24 traffic stop in the area of Oak Park Avenue and Lake Street, police said.

Retail Theft: A display case containing $800 worth of lottery tickets was reported stolen on April 24 from a business in the 6100 block of Roosevelt Road.

Residential Burglary: A 42-inch television, video game console, radio, computer, printer and two pairs of women’s gym shoes were stolen from a home in the 700 block of North Austin Boulevard on April 24. The estimated loss was $1,700.

Criminal Damage: Graffiti was spray painted on a wall and a window was broken at Longfellow School, 700 S. Highland Ave. The incident took place between April 21 and April 23, when it was reported to police. The estimated amount of damage was unknown.

Garage Burglary: A lawn trimmer valued at $200 was stolen April 23 from the garage of a home in the 1000 block of North Humphrey Avenue.

Garage Burglary: A power generator valued at $350 was stolen April 23 from the garage of a home in the 1000 block of North Humphrey Avenue.

Garage Burglary: The service door to the garage of a home in the 1000 block of North Humphrey Avenue was reported pried open on April 23. Nothing was taken. The estimated damage was $200.

Auto Burglary: A camera, wallet and $10 were stolen April 22 from the glove compartment of an unlocked Ford Freestyle mini-van parked in the rear of a building in the 200 block of North Kenilworth Avenue. The glove box and center console were ransacked. Estimated loss was $260.

Auto Burglary: A bag of candy, insurance and vehicle registration cards were stolen April 22 from a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero parked in the 200 block of North Grove Avenue. The loss was estimated at $1.

DUI Charge: William R. Bergey, 56, of Oak Park, was charged with drunk driving, driving on an expired license, not having insurance and failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash after an on April 22 crash in the 600 block of North Oak Park Avenue, police said.

Theft: Approximately $150 was taken from a petty cash box drawer stored in a building in the 600 block of South Maple Avenue. A key might have been used as there were no signs of forced entry, police said. The incident took place between April 19 and April 21, when it was reported to police.

Criminal Trespass: The rear view mirror and front windshield of a 2003 Saturn Ion parked in the 1100 block of South Wenonah Avenue was damaged April 21. Estimated damage was $200.

Theft From Car: A spare tire was stolen April 16 from the rear of a 2008 Toyota RAV4 parked in the 1000 block of Ontario Street. The estimated loss was $200.

Theft: A package containing three pairs of shoes was stolen April 15 from outside a building in the 1000 block of North Harlem Avenue. Estimated loss was $150.
