A suspected car jacker took authorities on a 40-minute long police pursuit all through eastern San DiegoCounty Thursday before being stopped by spike strips, authorities reported.
A Santee sheriff’s deputy saw the stolen 1992 HondaAccord at Winter Gardens Boulevard and Lemon Crest Drive around 10 a.m., but the driver of the car would not stop, stated sheriff’s Sgt. Tom Poulin.
The chase went north on state Route 67 through eastern Poway and into Ramona at fast speeds. A sheriff’s helicopter assisted in the chase.
The driver struck a spike strip placed across the road by Air Mail Lane, but he continued driving solely on rims until the car halted at Pamo Road and Pile Street, Poulin stated.
The driver, Timothy Allen Bliss, 27, of Ramona, was taken to prison on charges of car theft and escaping peace officers.
