DO NOT BUY IT!
Because it needed some assembly, I asked my son to order this trimmer from Amazon, assemble it and bring it to me. (Serial No. 2010120-07965 - Warranty card returned early in July 2010). It was used once a week from July to the end of September (trimming ordinary grass around flower beds). By the end of September, the battery did not hold the charge long enough to do the job. On October 4, I called the manufacturer and was told that they would send a new battery, with an envelope to return the old one (Ref. No. 2138921). I have not received anything yet. Today (October 24) the trimmer simply doesn't work at all. CONTINUED: I posted the above review yesterday, Sunday October 24. This morning, Federal Express delivered the replacement battery, plus six rolls of string. It is too late in the season to say whether the replacement will hold the charge any better than the initial battery; that is something I will find out next summer. The replacement battery looks exactly like the original battery, with just minor differences: (a) it is all black, without orange parts; (b) it is marked "WA3512.l" instead of "WA3512", "18 V" instead of "18V 1.3 Ah", and "SN2010110 15295" instead of "SN 2010130 41047". Not that I think it might matter, except perhaps to determine whether the replacement battery is "new" or just "reconditioned". Anyone out there can tell?
This is a very handy trimmer for lawn edging, and it does last a long time if you use it that way, but don't go thinking it will mow down that over grown section in the back yard. It has started not feeding out to the cutting edge, stays out only 3 inches, but will see if replacing the spool helps.
BAD PRODUCT. DO NOT BUY!
Bought May 2010; Used 5 times; Battery died; Called Oct 11, 2010 for replacement. Promised the battery will be arrived in 5 days. Nothing happened; Called Oct 18, 2010 again. They have not shipped. Promised to ship in 2 days. I will update you the status.
Great Design, poor execution.
I bought this tool as a father's day present to myself. After much research on the best trimmer/edger I decided on the worx GT WG151. I had viewed videos on youtube and read multiple websites that all had glowing reviews. Ultimately I decided to go with the lithium ion version for rapid recharge time. Once the trimmer arrived I couldn't wait to test it out. It performed perfect and was easy to switch between edger and trimmer. The results were great and made my lawn the envy of the block in the spring and early summer. Unfortunately this ends my good words for the product and company. After a few weeks of not using the trimmer, I decided to give my lawn an edge but found the battery was dead. No problem, I thought I'll just charge it up and with the litium ion; it wouldn't take long at all. After a few minutes I came back and found the green light on which indicates a full charge. This lasted ~5 minutes, so again onto the charging station after I re-seated the battery and made sure the leads connected. Immediately the green light came on, but the trimmer would not start. I called the company's main number and waited for close to 30 minutes listening to an annoying pitchman until ultimately deciding to leave a message for them to call me back. Two days later I received a call from an arrogant woman who took my information down and stated that it seemed to be an issue with the battery; they would ship me a new battery in 5-10 business days. One month later I have yet to receive anything or even a confirmation number. At this point I decided to go online and see if I could find out anything else. Here I found a link for batter replacement, so I filled in the information and at least got a confirmation number. I was told to expect a new battery in 5-10 business days again. This was 1 week ago. I logged in tonight to check on the status and was told due to the overwhelming success, it would take 15 business days to receive my battery. Needless to say I'm disappointed. I had such high hopes for worx but they did not live up to the billing. The product when working is great, the customer service and response is well below average. I would not recommend this product.
DON"T BUY IT PERIOD. The Worx company has mis-represented this product in its advertising. The trimmer itself is satisfactory for an electric trimmer. Beware the batteries!! They simply do not last. I had purchased 2 batteries with the 30 minute charger. After 4 -5 uses they are both dead as a doornail and at almost $70.00 a pop it seems to be a poor choice to buy another. Yes its warranteed, but unfortuantely Worx has the poorest excuse for customer service that I have seen in the civilized world. I contacted them almost 9 weeks ago, by e-mail and by phone ( be prepared to wait almost a half hour). I had received promises to replace the batteries and as of the writing of this letter I have not received the batteries ( 9 weeks after the initial contact). If you had been treated in a similar fashion, I encourage you to contact Amazon and express to them that this company does not conform with the customer service that is expected fron this website. I like to do business with Amazon, This situation can jeapodize our relationship.
